Baramulla, July 15: In a major initiative to promote local entrepreneurship, Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) in collaboration with Baramulla District Administration organised an E-commerce Onboarding Drive at Dakbangalore Baramulla.
The initiative aims to boost economic growth by enhancing local entrepreneurial potential.
Baramulla Deputy Commissioner (DC) Minga Sherpa was addressing the forum along with General Manager, Baramulla District Industries Centre. In his address, the DC highlighted the pivotal role of digital commerce in business growth and provided valuable insights into the e-commerce network and its numerous benefits.
The main objective of the campaign is to reach out to the grassroots level, promote local products and educate entrepreneurs and artisans on the benefits of selling their goods on e-commerce platforms. The initiative is part of a series of campaigns being planned across the Union Territory with an aim to bring local products onto e-commerce platforms.
The event was enthusiastically attended by 250 participants including women entrepreneurs, retailers, artisans, exporters, producers, FPOs etc. The event highlighted the benefits of joining e-commerce platforms and encouraged participants to join the online marketplace.
During the day-long event, 25 participants registered on the spot for free while others started their onboarding process. In-depth sessions by experts detailed the benefits of e-commerce platforms, enhancing participants' understanding and readiness.
This initiative is in line with JKTPO’s efforts to support local exporters by providing diversified marketing platforms and forward linkages.
Representatives of JKTPO emphasised on the importance of ODOP (One District One Product) and DEH (District Export Hub) initiatives.Furthermore, representatives of GeM (Government e-Marketplace) gave a detailed presentation on the registration process and helped the participants to register on the GeM portal.
The highlight of the event was a one-on-one onboarding session to enable sellers and partners to get started directly with GeM Marketplace. This hands-on approach enabled attendees to quickly get on board with the digital marketplace.
The event showcased initiatives by JKTPO and the district administration to support local entrepreneurs and encourage their entry into the global e-commerce space. The initiative aims to boost economic growth and create sustainable opportunities for Jammu and Kashmir's vibrant entrepreneurial community by providing a platform for small and medium-sized enterprises to reach customers across the world.
