In Jacksonville Beach, Florida, a shooting at a busy downtown bar district on St. Patrick's Day left one person dead and two others injured, prompting residents to shelter in place, police said. announced.
Police believe multiple shooters were involved in the incident and that it occurred “outside,” Sgt. Tonya Tater of the Jacksonville Beach Police Department said Sunday night. Authorities are still searching for the suspect.
Police announced in a Facebook post around 11 p.m. Sunday that the shelter-in-place order had been lifted.
Tater said police remained on scene and the downtown bar district and beachfront were closed until further notice.
Investigators are working to obtain a description of the suspect and release it to the public, she added.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us to understand everything and put all the pieces together. So if someone sees something, hears something,[calls the police]If anyone knows who was involved, we're just asking,'' Tater said.
Police will hold a press conference Monday at 8 a.m. ET.
