There are growing calls for answers over the fate of Hind Rajab, a six-year-old Palestinian girl who was trapped in a car with her dead relatives during Israeli shelling in the Gaza Strip more than a week ago.
The whereabouts of the two Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) paramedics dispatched to search for her on January 29 are also shrouded in mystery.
“We need to know what happened to Mr Hind and the PRCS emergency team,” the association said. In the latest statement regarding X Early Tuesday morning.
“Many wonderful things happen during a week, but for those who are waiting for news and information, the week is painful. Every moment is marked by worry and sadness.”
CNN provided details about the incident to the Israeli military last Friday, including coordinates provided by PRCS. In response, the Israel Defense Forces said it was “not aware of the incident described.”
According to PRCS, Hind was fleeing fighting in northern Gaza by car with his uncle, his wife, and their four children when they came under Israeli artillery fire.
Mr Hind's cousin, 15-year-old Rayan Hamadeh, made the harrowing call for help to emergency services, which was recorded by PRCS and shared on social media.
In the clip, the teenager can be heard shouting to emergency personnel for help and describing a nearby tank.
“They are firing at us. The tank is right next to me. We are in the car and the tank is right next to me,” Rayan shouted as heavy gunfire was heard behind him. .
Rayan then became quiet and the shooting stopped.
The paramedics on the phone tried to talk to her and kept saying, “Hello?” Hello? “But there is no response.
PRCS believes that six other people, including Rayan, who was a passenger in Hind's car, were killed by gunfire.
