In this webinar, learn about HeartStart, an innovative cardiac and metabolic screening program. This program is offered in partnership with Lexipol and was developed by Sigma Tactical Wellness to address the number one cause of death for active and retired first responders. HeartStart is designed specifically for the heart health of first responders and is easily accessible from mobile or his website platform. It is a tool to quickly and non-invasively identify the onset of heart disease before it causes a heart attack, stroke, or other cardiovascular complications.
This research is clear. For first responders, the risk of cardiovascular disease is too high to ignore. The average age of first responders to a heart attack is 46 years old, and for civilians it is 65 years old. Of the more than 14,000 police officers tested by SIGMA for subclinical heart disease, 92% tested positive, 24% of whom were under the age of 40.1
Learn:
- The importance of heart health for first responders
- Heart disease risk for first responders
- The importance of early detection
- Benefits of HeartStart
- Why choose HeartStart?

While Kathy worked as a police officer, he had the opportunity to lead his wellness program aimed at the physical health of police officers. Her department was the first in Minnesota to conduct a screening of police officers through Sigma Tactical Wellness. She saw firsthand not only the importance of heart health, but also how simple cardiac and metabolic screenings can identify potential cardiovascular disease and how easily it can be prevented. Kathy is passionate about promoting the health of first responders, and she strongly believes in protecting those who selflessly protect their communities.
After graduating from the University of Arkansas, Dr. benjamin stone He attended Exeter College, Oxford University. At Oxford University, Dr. Stone developed a strong interest in cardiovascular physiology. He completed relevant courses towards his PhD and MD, and also co-ordinated his research at the British Olympic Medical Research Institute, his Nutraceuticals Group at Oxford, and the University of Cambridge. Dr. Stone is an assistant professor of exercise physiology at the University of Arkansas, a senior lecturer at the University of Oxford, and designed the curriculum at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. In 2017, Dr. Stone co-developed Sigma He Tactical He Wellness, an organization dedicated to identifying the causes and reducing the prevalence of coronary artery disease in law enforcement officers across the United States.
