You are the recipient of an educational research award. What is the importance of research in medical education?
As teachers, we want to provide our students with the best education possible. This is only possible if we continue to investigate and evaluate current teaching strategies and new innovative ideas. We conduct research to provide the best education that leads to the best patient care.
Describe your proudest moment as an educator.
My proudest moments are when I work with former students who are excellent nurses, or when they thank me after graduation and tell me that something I taught them saved a life, or when a patient… when I received a card about a time when my hand touched a patient. , they too know that my hands are touching them.
What advice would you give to other faculty who want to make an impact in education?
Get to know your students and help them achieve their goals of becoming great healthcare professionals. Hold your standards high for your patients and help your students reach those standards.

If you want to improve yourself, improve others. -Booker T. Washington
