One of the immigrants allegedly involved in the gang assault on two police officers in Times Square has been rearrested, this time for participating in a coordinated robbery of a Macy's store in Queens.
Darwin Andres Gomez Izquiel, 19, was arrested Tuesday night and charged with robbery and petty theft, police said.
He is one of four people charged with “acting in concert” to enter the Queen's Center mall around 5:33pm on Tuesday and steal clothing that they had tried to hide in bags.
When a 27-year-old security guard confronted the group, they “struggling” and one of the suspects punched the security guard in the face, police said.
The security guard suffered minor injuries but refused treatment at the scene.
Gomez-Izquiel was taken in handcuffs from the 110th Precinct just after 11 a.m. Wednesday on her way to Queens Criminal Court for arraignment on new charges of robbery and petty theft.
The teenage immigrant, wearing a blue hoodie and sweatpants, looked subdued and ignored questions from reporters in English and Spanish as he was escorted into an NYPD SUV.
Gomez Izquiel was previously charged with second-degree assault on a police officer and obstruction of public administration for the Times Square attack that was caught on camera in late January.
The video showed Gomez Izquiel, along with a group of other asylum seekers, kicking two people at New York's Finest in the head and body, then running away.
The other suspects charged in Tuesday's robbery were last seen fleeing westbound on Queens Boulevard with assorted clothing valued at about $608.
One of the suspects is described as approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, with tan skin and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a multicolored baseball cap, a blue jacket, gray jeans, black sneakers and a black bag.
The other person is described as a female, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with fair skin and a medium build. She was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans and black sneakers, and carrying a black bag.
The third person is a male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black skullcap, a black bubble jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt underneath, black jeans, and black and white sneakers.
One of the suspects is an immigrant living in a tent shelter in the city on Randall Island, where he was arrested early Wednesday, police officials said.
According to officials, Ulises Bohorquez, 21, was charged with kicking a department store security guard during the robbery.
Meanwhile, the seventh immigrant charged with assaulting a police officer in Times Square on January 27, Yarwin Madris, 18, was charged Wednesday with assault and ordered held without bail.
Madris is one of six immigrants involved in the attack who were indicted by a Manhattan grand jury for the attacks on two police officers: NYPD Lt. Ben Kurian and NYPD Officer Zunxu Tian. be.
Prosecutor Zachary Cottin told the court: “His actions included grabbing one police officer and lunging at another.”
Manhattan Judge Stephen Antignani agreed with the prosecutor's office's recommendation that Madris be held without bail.
“I don't even know what his appropriate age is,” the judge said. “I don't know if we know his official name. What I know about him is that he's only been here a short time and is currently charged with assaulting a police officer. That's all I know.”
The Post also reported on Wednesday that Yohenry Brito, the only immigrant so far ordered to be detained in the police attack, was arrested after a Brooklyn church posted his $15,000 bail. It was announced that he had been released this week.
The Rev. Juan Luis, pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, said he offered the cash because he believes the church is a sanctuary and everyone is innocent “until proven otherwise.”
