“Hayes CISD is where our teachers want to be right now, and the Foundation’s continued and growing support will help us keep it that way.”
Kyle — The Hays CISD Educational Foundation announced the success of its recent Grants Day competition, an important initiative that supports educational excellence and innovation within the community.
On Tuesday, February 20, the Hays CISD Education Foundation distributed a record $87,000 in grants to worthy educational projects, initiatives and professional development opportunities. The event marked a milestone in the foundation's continued efforts to help educators and students improve their learning experiences in the Hays CISD community, according to a news release. That's because the event increased the district's average award total by more than $20,000.
A diverse range of projects covering areas such as technology, aviation programs, and professional development will be selected for funding, including innovative educational grants, collaborative grants, enriched professional development, and 100% Hays CISD Student Grants. 51 grants were awarded in four categories:
“The Foundation Board of Directors is proud of the significant increase in grants realized this year,” said Foundation President Micah Petrea. “We hope our teachers and students take this as a powerful statement about our foundation's commitment to making bigger and bolder investments. This is just the beginning.”
“I shared with Foundation members that there was an increased need for support from the Foundation given the uncertainty in state funding. They heard my message and received unprecedented We have chosen to respond in the form of a level grant,” Dr. Wright said. “Hays CISD is where our teachers want to be right now. The Foundation’s continued and growing support will help us keep it that way.”
