HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation has named Hanover County Public Schools (HCPS) a “Best Community for Music Education” for the 12th consecutive year.
“We are extremely proud of the many music programs, offerings and opportunities that are critical to our students’ learning and school life,” said Superintendent Dr. Michael Gill. “Music plays a vital role in education, and Hanover County Public Schools is committed to supporting the arts. We are particularly grateful for the many powerful and innovative opportunities that will be provided to us.”
According to HCPS, there are 131 school districts in Virginia, and Hanover County Schools is one of 25 districts in the commonwealth to achieve this status.
“This is a credit to the dedicated music teachers across Hanover County Public Schools,” said HCPS Curriculum Specialist Dr. Keith Matthews. “Together with our talented students, supportive school leaders, and dedicated community members, we elevate Hannover as an excellent environment for music education.” It emphasizes the important value it places on music and the arts. ”
