The Iowa Agriculture Literacy Foundation has awarded 175 grants to schools across Iowa to strengthen the integration of agriculture into classroom instruction and academically focused after-school programs.
The Agriculture Teacher Supplemental Grant in the Classroom is designed to help teachers start new projects or expand existing programs that promote agricultural literacy, according to a news release.
Grants can be used to fund lessons, activities, classroom resources, guest speakers, outreach programs, field trips, and other projects. Teachers received up to $250 each.
“These grants will allow teachers to bring agriculture into the classroom and connect students with real-world applications,” said Kelly Foss, IALF Executive Director.
State Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig called the Tri-Center FFA barn “beautiful” and a model for other schools.
This grant was made possible with support from the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation.
