Jessica Culver, a PhD student in the Education and Health Professions Adult and Lifelong Learning Programme, has been selected as a member of the 2024 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship.
The program is the result of a collaboration between National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions, and the cohort consists of 35 members.
“We are extremely grateful to National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions for providing this opportunity for educators,” Culver said. “I am very proud to have been selected for the 2024 Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship and am looking forward to sharing everything I have learned.”
This fellowship allows educators to go on expeditions to different parts of the world, including Antarctica, Alaska, and Patagonia. This year marks the birth of our 16th batch of friends. Those selected will gain practical experience that they can take back to the classroom to teach the next generation of “planet stewards.”
Culver's expedition begins June 2nd with National Geographic Quest heading to Sitka, Alaska. She will be heading from Sitka to Juneau, Alaska, as part of the Lindblad Expedition “Exploring the Alaskan Coastal Wilderness.''
For Culver, he can't wait to share this opportunity with his students and looks forward to growing as a world-class educator and using his experience to enhance his teaching.
“I’m really looking forward to discovering new connections and knowledge in the classroom while exploring places I’ve never been before,” she said.
Culver is in his 21st year of teaching in the public schools of Arkansas and currently teaches high school civics and economics and college credit history courses in the Ozark School District.
“As a longtime Arkansas educator, I am dedicated to teaching in the Natural State and want to continue to grow my own practice,” Culver said.
