A girl has died after an incident inside the lobby of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
According to authorities, a Hispanic juvenile and female began knocking on doors in the lobby of the City of Industry LASD station, 150 Hudson Avenue, around 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
When deputies made contact with the woman, an altercation broke out in the lobby.
The girl then allegedly pulled a gun from the deputy's holster and died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound during the scuffle.
“We believe this incident stemmed from a domestic disturbance call that deputies were responding to prior to this incident at the police station,” said LASD Lt. Art Spencer. . “Again, we are still in the early stages of the investigation.”
Further details about the victim were not released.
Spencer confirmed that no deputies were injured during the altercation. Asked by reporters whether his deputy's firearm was properly holstered, he reiterated that the investigation was still in its early stages.
