TEXARKANA, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — A new partnership between a Texarkana university and a business will now provide eligible employees with free tuition.
Total Medical Supply and Texas A&M University-Texarkana now offer Total Medical Supply employees a 25% discount on college tuition. The partnership documents were signed on March 25, 2024 at his TAMUT campus.
Full-time employees of TMS are not required to pay the TAMUT application fee. The 25% tuition discount applies to undergraduate, graduate, certificate, or microcredential programs. Students have the option of attending in person on campus, online, or in a hybrid format.
TMS also committed to paying the remainder of the certification tuition fees for full-time employees.
Eligible employees new to the university also receive First Flight Scholarships. This makes her first class free, at least if she is enrolled in a 6-hour undergraduate or graduate class.
TAMUT President Dr. Ross Alexander said the university is honored to have TMS as a key education and workforce partner. He also said the degree to which the company supports its employees is “commendable and impressive.”
“We are honored to support that effort,” Alexander said.
Madeline Haack, who works for Total Medical Supply, said the collaboration between TMS and TAMUT came about because TMS and TAMUT want to promote education in the community.
“By partnering with Texas A&M, Total Medical Supply hopes to create a symbiotic relationship where adults seek additional opportunities to better themselves,” Haak said.
TAMUT Director of Community Engagement Dr. Jennifer Davis said TMS's initiative to fully cover tuition for eligible employees is the first of its kind. This is a surprisingly generous benefit package that emphasizes support for employees.
Employees must meet admission criteria and maintain good academic standing.
