Seeds of knowledge are being planted in local classrooms by members of the Fredericktown FFA Chapter as elementary school students participate in Agriculture Education on the Moves™ (Ag Moves) this spring. Through Ag Moves, Missouri Farmers Care's educational program, students learn how their lives are intertwined with agriculture through hands-on learning led by passionate educators in the classroom.
Fredericktown FFA members teach Ag Moves lessons to Fredericktown Middle School students during a 10-week program. Students learn about crops, livestock, soil and water conservation, nutrition, careers in agriculture, and more through STEM-focused lessons and curriculum that meet state learning goals in science, math, social studies, and language arts. Learn.
Each lesson incorporates hands-on activities, providing a fun and interactive way to learn as students make soybean sprouting necklaces, corn plastics, butter, feed, soil profiles, and more. Through a partnership with 535 FFA members from 91 FFA chapters, Ag Moves professional educators, and college education interns, Ag Moves engaged more than 10,000 third-grade students in classroom instruction in 2023. The program's coverage has more than doubled since 2021. The Care Foundation, which hosts Ag Moves, provides supplies and curriculum free of charge to participating schools.
