FRAMINGHAM — Ellen Margiotta aims to become America's favorite teacher.
Margiotta, a physical education teacher at Mary E. Stapleton Elementary School, entered a contest sponsored by Reader's Digest that awarded one “outstanding educator” $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, and the 102-year-old magazine. Received publication in family magazine.

Ms. Margiotta was educated at Franklin Pierce College and Springfield College. She has been working as a physical education teacher at Framingham Public Schools since 2007.
“I think my energy and positive growth mindset are the foundation of the wonderful and diverse opportunities I have provided to my students,” she said.
This includes Stapleton's Golden Eagle 5K, Gauntlet, obstacle courses held at both Cameron Middle School and Stapleton, and Harry Potter House Challenge Week. Her fundraising program raised funds for the construction of Stapleton's rock wall and turf field.

The winner of the Reader's Digest contest will receive $25,000, a trip to Hawaii, and an issue of the magazine. Margiotta said if he wins, he plans to spend $5,000 on soundproofing the gym in Stapleton.
“With the money that's left over, we're giving $1,000 to 20 teachers and friends who are going to Hawaii because we think everyone should be able to go,” she said. “It's hard to be a teacher now.”
