The Fort Thomas Education Foundation conducted its annual Grant Patrol this week.
This fun tradition gives FTEF the opportunity to surprise Fort Thomas Independent Schools (FTIS) teachers who have submitted FTEF grant applications with the news that their applications have been funded.
This year, FTEF has provided more than $72,000 in teacher grants.
This is all thanks to generous donations from families and community partners.
Over its 20-year history, FTEF has provided more than $1 million in grants to teachers. Teachers and administrators plan to coordinate with her FTEF to make the purchase over the summer and have it available for students to use at the beginning of next school year.
This year's grant recipients are as follows.
• HHS Motion Picture Broadcasting – New Anchor Desk
• Highlands High School – Photography equipment and new needle equipment.
• Highland Junior High School – Flight Simulator
• Johnson Elementary School – Sensory Room Materials
• Moyer Elementary School – Books for young children.
• Woodfill Elementary School – Grant for robot upgrades for student classrooms and new inclusive playground turf.
“Each year, thanks to the generous support and donations from our community, we have the privilege of awarding teacher grants to FTIS staff. These grants make our school more accessible than any other I have become a prominent member of the school and I am happy to be a part of an organization that dedicates its resources to giving back to the children of the Fort Thomas community in any way that we can. We are proud to continue our efforts to support our district. We cannot say enough about our wonderful, dedicated staff and dedicated board members. This year's grant will help our students. We look forward to serving you,” said FTEF Board Chair Frank Tuhuis.
Beth Brubaker, Highlands High School teacher and recipient of the photography equipment, said: We are forever grateful for your investment in our program. You enable our students to dream the seemingly impossible and make it a reality. ”
