Angela Solis has a vision for the future of special education on the Temple ISD campus.
“My vision for special education is centered around access, growth and support,” she said. “All students deserve an equal education. We will work together to break down barriers and build pathways to success for students with disabilities.”
Solis was unanimously approved as the next executive director of special education by the Temple ISD Board of Education at Tuesday's meeting, emphasizing that special education students are not defined by their disability.
“They are defined by their potential,” she said. “I want to celebrate their accomplishments and help students reach their full potential. We are more than just educators, we are advocates, allies, and advocates for students with disabilities. I am an advocate.”
Collaboration is therefore essential, Solis stressed.
“We will build a network of support beyond the walls of the school,” she said.
