Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and owner of X, has apparently upset the crypto community with an April Fool's Day message.
Musk trolls Disney CEO
In the He tweeted that he would be taking on the position of chief DEI officer. DEI stands for “diversity, diversity.” It's about equity and inclusion. He wrote, “I can't wait to work with Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy to further awaken their content!” he added.
Kathleen Kennedy is the president of Lucasfilm, which is now part of Disney. The latest film, Indiana Jones and the Dial, is a recent collaboration. Musk is often seen harshly criticizing DEI policies in his tweets, claiming that they are a new type of discrimination against people with traditional values and views.
Musk's tweet stirred up the crypto community, who decided to get behind the joke and started posting memes and reactions in the same spirit, trolling Disney and Netflix's positions on social policy.
Last year, Musk clashed with Disney CEO Bob Iger after the latter pulled Disney advertising from Twitter/X. Elon Musk has publicly told CNBC that he has no intention of being blackmailed with money or advertising by Iger or anyone else. He said people who don't want to advertise on X don't have to, and he basically openly told them where to go. Considered in this context, Elon Musk's April Fool's joke sounds pretty harsh.
Musk teases Grok AI 1.5 coming soon
Last week, tech mogul Musk published a tweet announcing that a new version of his AI chatbot, Grok, was developed by Musk's latest venture called xAI.
Musk said Grok 1.5 will continue to roll out on the X platform this week for Premium+ users. He also added that once the Grok 2 version is released, it should “exceed current AI in every metric.” According to the tweet, a new version of the AI bot is currently being trained. However, it is not clear whether Musk meant his earlier version of Grok, or whether he meant ChatGPT or similar his AI language model.
