The Illinois State University (ISU) College of Education's Early Childhood Education (ECE) Online Workforce Program is accepting applications for fall 2024 admissions.
The 100% online program is designed for professionals with an associate's degree, Gateway Level 4, experience in the early childhood field, and currently working with children from birth to age 5. This two-year online program allows working professionals to earn a bachelor's degree and their PEL (Professional Educator License) while continuing to work.
Upon completing the program and licensure requirements, students will also receive an Early Childhood Special Education letter of approval, allowing them to teach special education in kindergarten.
“We prioritize the well-being of our students and creating an environment that supports our practicing educators,” said Linda Ruhe Marsh, program coordinator. She said, “The cohort model fosters relationships and support with students and helps create a community-based educational process, even in an online structure.”
The program also helps provide students with specialized support that has the unique ability to assist nontraditional students in both academic and professional contexts. Faculty and staff understand the professional needs of students as simultaneously meeting the roles of working adults, parents, and caregivers.
“I love that this program allows me to continue to prioritize my family while also focusing on my educational needs and career,” said graduate Becky Pajak.
Professionals interested in this program can begin the pre-admission process by submitting a program interest form. Prospective students can also attend upcoming virtual information sessions to hear from program advisors and ask questions about the program and application process.
