On February 20, the National Capital Region Defense Medical Network announced the launch of a health care awareness campaign entitled “Unlock Your Health.” The campaign, which will run until May 2024, is focused on helping TRICARE beneficiaries understand the medical services available to them and how to access them through military hospitals and clinics in the NCR.
“We developed Unlock Your Health based on patient feedback and frequently asked questions. Our goal with this program is to help beneficiaries learn about common topics when receiving health care. That's what we do,” said Brigadier General. Gen. Deydre Teyhen, National Capital Region Director, Defense Health Agency; “We designed Unlock Your Health to positively impact access to care and the overall patient experience. Patients enjoy knowing all their treatment options and what's available to them. I am.”
DHN-NCR will engage directly with beneficiaries by improving communication with patients to provide easy-to-understand guidance to improve beneficiaries' access to services provided at hospitals and clinics in the NCR. I am.
Curious about how this campaign will unfold and what we will learn? Unlock Your Health will target TRICARE beneficiaries in the NCR in four phases.
Start
The first phase of the pilot campaign will introduce you to some of the basics of getting started with TRICARE. Use the links and references provided in the communication to learn how to enroll in a plan, make a reservation, and how referrals work.
Consider other eligible services and options
Throughout March, our first campaign will focus on increasing access to the care options that TRICARE offers you and your family. Look for communication materials to help you understand how to receive care through emergency room services, urgent care clinics, Doctor on Demand, and telehealth. The second phase will also promote services provided by the MHS Nurse Advice Line.
Find medical services
Phase 3 outlines how to receive important health screenings, care, and preventive services. In April, keep an eye out for information about pharmacy, radiology, labs, and immunization services.
Use of available resources
The final part of Unlock Your Health provides a way to find the support you need, when you need it. Learn how to access tools that can help you become more aware as a military health care consumer. These resources include the Beneficiary Counseling Assistance Coordinator (BCAC), Debt Collection Assistance Officer (DCAO), Patient Advocate, and JOES Patient Satisfaction Survey.
