Columbia, Missouri (KMIZ)
Columbia Public Schools will hold a special meeting Wednesday to approve new elementary school attendance zone changes.
Changes coming to Russell Boulevard Elementary School will be discussed at a meeting at 6 p.m. in the Assulin Administration Building. The school zone changes being considered represent the first of his three-phase redrawing of school boundaries. The district is considering one of three options:
- Option 1: This option would move 59 students from Fairview Elementary to Russell Boulevard, splitting Fairview Elementary into two schools instead of three.
- Option 2: This option would move 44 students from both Grant Elementary School and West Boulevard Elementary School to Russell Boulevard, and Russell Boulevard students would attend three middle schools.
- Option 3: This option combines the first two and moves 72 students from Fairview Elementary School and West Boulevard Elementary School to Russell Boulevard. Students from Fairview and Russell Boulevard would enroll in her two middle schools under this option.
A map detailing which school boundary residents fall under each phase can be found here.
Phases 2 and 3 meetings will be held May 7-9 at the Assulin Administration Building.
