Srinagar, July 4: Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) in collaboration with the district administrations is organising e-commerce onboarding activities in all the districts of the Union Territory with emphasis on One District One Product (ODOP) and District Export Hub (DEH) initiatives.
The main objective of these activities is to strengthen the digital presence and market reach of local artisans, manufacturing units, weavers, farmers, entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups (SHGs) and MSMEs. By promoting their participation on leading e-commerce platforms, JKTPO aims to provide wider market opportunities and increased visibility to these stakeholders.
The onboarding activity, organised by JKTPO under the directions of Chief Secretary Atal Dhuli and guidance of Secretary Industries and Commerce Department Bikramjit Singh, is aimed at integrating local entrepreneurs into the digital commerce platform and boosting their presence in the global market.
ODOP and DEH initiatives have demonstrated great potential in promoting unique and quality products from each district, thereby boosting the local economy. The e-commerce onboarding drives are a key step towards achieving these goals and increasing visibility, recognition and global presence of Jammu and Kashmir's unique products. These drives will include training and workshops, platform registration, product listing, marketing and sales. JKTPO is planning these e-commerce onboarding drives throughout July in each district of the Union Territory and simultaneous events in both the districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Recently, JKTPO successfully conducted e-commerce onboarding drives at Circuit House, Pulwama and Government Dak Bungalow, Poonch.
Earlier, JKTPO had organised e-commerce onboarding drives in Anantnag and Jammu for the benefit of artisans, entrepreneurs and farmers.
Pulwama witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 150 entrepreneurs including women entrepreneurs, exporters, growers and government officials along with leading e-commerce players. The engagement included an insightful session highlighting the benefits of e-commerce platforms and enabled over 35 participants to instantly onboard into platforms like Government e-Marketplace (GeM).
Addressing the gathering, Pulwama Area Development Committee Member Shaukat Ahmad Rather emphasised the pivotal role of digital commerce in business growth and underlined the government's efforts to support local products in Pulwama.
Simultaneously, an event was organised by JKTPO in collaboration with the Poonch district administration, which saw the participation of over 150 local entrepreneurs, artisans and retailers. The initiative focused on registering participants on platforms like ONDC and GeM, with 50 sellers from various sectors getting registered on the spot. The registration drive in Poonch was chaired by Deputy District Development Commissioner Sandesh Kumar Sharma.
JKTPO Managing Director Khalid Jahangir emphasised the importance of these initiatives in supporting local entrepreneurs and expanding the market beyond traditional boundaries. The workshop provided valuable insights into leveraging e-commerce for economic growth, connecting unique local products to national and international markets, and realising the vision of Vocal for Local and Local goes Global.
