CHICOPEE, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – It's dinner time! Some people may opt for takeout or delivery on a snowy day. But how many people think the same way?
What better way to beat the cold than with a hot meal? Romano's Pizza on Exchange Street in Chicopee said the weather could lead to some hungry customers, and that hungry customers could experience longer wait times. ing.
A snowy day in Western Massachusetts is reason enough to let someone else do the cooking. Western Mass News stopped by Romano's Pizza in Chicopee around lunchtime Tuesday and found business to be slow.
“I'm actually surprised it's not that busy today,” said Hasan Ince, manager of Romano's Pizza. “People don't call the store because they see the streets haven't been plowed yet and aren't clean. Maybe they're afraid.”
However, preparations were being made for the anticipated dinner and late night rush.
“On snow days here, we mostly cut up extra mushrooms, onions and peppers. We're also a dressing business,” Ince said. “We make sausage out of the extra meatballs. You all know we make extra.”
It wasn't just the food they prepared. Romano manager Hasan Ince said additional personnel had also been called in.
“We also bring in second and third people, like an extra chef, an extra driver, a phone girl,” Ince explained.
Despite the additional preparations, your order may take extra time. As highlighted on the signage, expedited delivery may take a few more minutes and customers should be patient.
“Usually we give them 30 to 40 minutes, but now we’re giving them an hour,” Ince added.
