Welsh flanker Ellis Jenkins will make his final home appearance for Cardiff when he hosts play-off contenders Edinburgh in the United Rugby Championship on Saturday.
Jenkins, 31, will retire at the end of the season, but fellow international prop Lys Carre will also be recalled for a final Arms Park appearance for Cardiff before rejoining Saracens in the summer.
Loosehead prop Kare will replace Corey Domakowski as one of Cardiff's five starting changes.
Hari Millard returns to the wing, Mackenzie Martin is number eight and Gonzalo Beltranow, on loan from the Dragons, starts at scrum-half.
Argentina winger Emiliano Boffelli returned from injury as one of six substitutes from Edinburgh in the comfortable win over the Scarlets.
Props Pierre Schumann and WP Nel return, along with hooker Euan Ashman, while lock Sam Skinner and flanker Hamish Watson are also recalled to the starting XI.
Cardiff's Millard replaces Josh Adams, who is ruled out with a groin injury, while Taulupe Faletau has a fractured shoulder, giving Martin the chance to be recalled.
Cardiff have generated a very positive response to their performances this season, despite having only won three of their 14 URC games so far.
That was epitomized in last weekend's game against Ulster, where they were controversially denied a victory.
Instead, it was another close loss for Matt Sherratt's team.
But Cardiff can't help but envy Edinburgh, who head to the Welsh capital in hopes of making it into the top eight of the play-offs.
The visitors are in eighth place with 39 points, but just three points separated the teams from fifth to 11th going into the weekend.
Mr Sherratt said: “It will be an emotional time for the likes of Ellis Jenkins and Rhys Carre, but I sincerely hope we can give them a good send off.''
“But it's also important that our supporters give the performance they deserve.
“They have been really great this season and will always stay in our hearts. We really want to thank them and do something to celebrate.”
Edinburgh manager Sean Everitt said: “We head to Cardiff with plenty of momentum after our second half performance against the Scarlets.
“Now it's important that we maintain that level for 80 minutes. It's essential that we get off to a strong start against Cardiff, who are always dangerous at home.”
