E-commerce platform BigCommerce has been building a strong presence in the French market since 2021. The company streamlined its operations in December 2023 to become more agile and position itself for long-term success. This strategic move allows BigCommerce to continue investing in the French market, where demand for innovative e-commerce solutions is rife.
To support the growth ambitions of brands and their partners, Aurélien Roessner has joined the EMEA team, bringing with him extensive experience working in BigCommerce APAC. Based in London since March, Aurélien now oversees both partnerships and business development for BigCommerce in France.
The importance of BigCommerce in the French e-commerce industry
Simply put, BigCommerce is an open, configurable platform that offers the best of SaaS functionality and the flexibility of APIs to help brands connect with customers around the world.
Such solutions aim to deliver innovative shopping experiences and provide B2B and B2C brands with the integrations and tools they need to speed up personalization and marketing, often while lowering the total cost of ownership.
BigCommerce's partner-centric approach gives customers the freedom to choose the best combination of ecommerce solutions for their specific needs, including payments, shipping and fulfillment, POS, order management, marketing, and omnichannel.
For Aurélien, this is a unique solution. “In today's world, being able to quickly adapt to customer demands and market changes is crucial,” he explains. “BigCommerce gives us this flexibility and the ability to do more with less, making it the ideal platform for both retail and B2B sellers.”
An ideal experience to strengthen BigCommerce's local position
Trained in general management, Aurélien moved to Australia with his family 13 years ago and entered the world of e-commerce. He spent many years working with e-commerce platforms, first at agencies and then at startups, becoming familiar with how these structures work within companies offering marketing and fulfillment solutions. This experience made him an ideal fit when he joined BigCommerce in 2020.
At that time, Aurélien was in Australia leading BigCommerce's relationship with agencies in the Asia Pacific region, where he helped forge strategic partnerships over almost four years. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, he continued that spirit by launching his own e-commerce store on the platform in parallel, reselling French books in the Australian market.
Agency, partnership, sales, entrepreneurship: Aurélien has a wealth of experience and the added advantage of being bilingual and internationally experienced.
“BigCommerce is a technology and a company I believe in. My experience abroad has taught me that the challenges, risks and opportunities of global markets are common, especially in Western countries,” adds Aurélien. “Despite local specificities, macroeconomic trends and needs are similar. I am looking forward to transferring and leveraging this global perspective to support the growth of the French market.”
Your partner for the growth of e-commerce in France
BigCommerce's proposition is clear: it's above all a tool and growth partner for agencies and merchants.
“The goal of any agency is to grow,” Aurélien explains. “BigCommerce has proven in many markets that by providing the right features for a specific vertical, it can help agencies find new customers and expand into new verticals like B2B, accelerating their growth.”
A more general benefit of BigCommerce is that it allows merchants to modernize their commerce approach by providing increased flexibility that monolithic solutions can no longer support effectively and cost-effectively.
Aurélien explains, “In today's economy, retailers, whether B2C or B2B, need to be responsive to market demands and can't afford to wait months for new features to be developed. They need future-proof tools that will help them increase sales and reduce the costs of developing and maintaining their e-commerce sites. BigCommerce is building on this to give merchants the composability they need to do this without increasing costs, slowing down their roadmaps, or reducing conversion rates or overall revenue.”
To address these modernization and performance needs, BigCommerce The next big thing Scheduled for release in April 2024, it will include over 100 software updates and partner integrations, and aims to inspire digital innovation and improve the performance and productivity of e-commerce ecosystems worldwide by making composable architecture more accessible with Catalyst, revolutionizing B2B e-commerce with the B2B Edition, redefining the omnichannel experience with Feedonomics, and leveraging AI responsibly.
