BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Kathryn Rich, who brings 30 years of experience to the Brunswick County Department of Health and Human Services, will immediately become executive director of the county Department of Health and Human Services.
This position was recently re-created following a restructuring process approved by the commission in November. David Stanley last held the position and was promoted to deputy county manager in 2021.
According to the county, Rich has worked in human services delivery and management throughout North Carolina for 30 years. She has served as Brunswick County's director of social services and public housing since 2013, and she will continue to oversee the department until new leadership is elected.
Rich will also oversee the county's health, public housing, social and emergency services departments and serve as staff liaison to the Health and Human Services Advisory Committee.
“Kathy has been an integral part of our county's leadership for many years, and we are pleased to have her assume this expanded role,” Brunswick County Manager Steve Stone said in a press release. . “Her dedication and knowledge of our county’s unique needs, challenges and opportunities will be invaluable in working with our staff and community to further advance some of our most important services. It will be a great asset.”
