The San Diego County Board of Education unanimously passed a resolution designating March 2024 as Arts Education Month. Resolution number 2024-04 reads:

Meanwhile, California voters passed Proposition 28, “Arts and Music in Schools – Funding Guarantees and Accountability Act,” which mandates dedicated funding and equal access to arts education for all California public school students. The vote was overwhelmingly in favor.and
All students have the right to a well-rounded education that includes the arts and the benefits they provide, as required by Education Code Sections 51210 and 51220. It states in part: “The adopted curriculum guidelines shall include instruction in…'' [v]Fine and performing arts, including the teaching of dance, music, drama and visual arts subjects, with the aim of developing skills in aesthetic perception and creative expression. ” and
The State Board of Education adopted the California Arts Standards for Kindergarten through Grade 12 in Public Schools in 2019 and the California Arts Education Framework for Transitional Kindergarten through Grade 12 in Public Schools in 2020.
