INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett will make what his office calls a “major announcement” Thursday night about the future of sports in Indianapolis.
The announcement is scheduled for April 25th at 5:30 p.m. at the City/County Building.
13News will livestream the announcement on this page, as well as on WTHR's Facebook page and YouTube account.
The mayor's office says this announcement is exciting for Indianapolis sports, with the Indiana Pacers making the playoffs, Caitlin Clark drafted by the Indiana Fever, and selections for the 108th Indianapolis 500 quickly approaching. It was pointed out that it was carried out at the same time.
But earlier in the day, Keystone, which is overseeing the development of the Eleven Park area for the Indy Eleven soccer team, released a lengthy statement.
In it, they accuse Mayor Joe Hogsett's administration of being prepared to walk away from the project.
In December, the Eleven Park professional sports development area map was approved by the city-county council. Keystone has accused the mayor's administration of refusing to submit PSDA maps to the state budget committee.
Keystone also accused the mayor's administration of hoarding “public real estate and public loans to the highest bidder.” These purported bid requests do not include any requirements for a spot in the Indy Eleven.
The statement continued, “These actions by Mayor Hogsett's administration are an alarming departure from the expectations of integrity, trust, and commitment that the Indianapolis business community stands for. A precedent is being set.” City negotiators act on their own. ”

The project, located at 402 Kentucky Avenue near Lucas Oil Stadium, will house a new stadium for Indianapolis' professional soccer team, the Indy Eleven. Construction is expected to cost $1 billion.
Once complete, the stadium is expected to seat 20,000 people, and Eleven Park will include more than 600 apartments, 205,000 square feet of office space, 197,000 square feet of retail space, restaurants, a hotel and green space. It will be.
It was scheduled to open in the summer of 2025.
