Gainesville, Florida – Florida Gators bella sims As announced today by Chris Felts, executive director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA), she has been named a finalist in the 2024 Honda Sport Award Swimming & Diving category.
bella sims Aranza Vazquez-Montano of the University of Florida, Aranza Vazquez-Montano of the University of North Carolina, and Alex and Gretchen Walsh of the University of Virginia are the four finalists in the 2024 Honda Sports Awards Swimming & Diving category.
The honor came after Sims had a historic rookie season. She won two individual titles at the 2024 NCAA Swimming Championships and set new school, conference and pool records in the 500 free and 200 free. The freshman from Henderson, Nevada, also swam the lead leg in the 800 free relay, helping the team win the NCAA title and set school, conference and pool records. She earned seven All-American titles in her first season.
At the SEC Championship, Sims went 3-3 with individual titles. Won the 200IM, 200Fly, and 200Back titles. She scored a tournament-high 96 points and won the 2024 SEC Championship Women's Commissioner's Trophy.
The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA to the top female athletes in 12 NCAA-recognized sports for the past 48 years and stands for “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” The sports award winners will be named Collegiate Female Athlete of the Year and finalists for the prestigious 2024 Honda Cup, which will be presented live on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 7:00 PM ET. .
