Crews have recovered the body of the third construction worker killed in a Baltimore bridge collapse. Authorities are continuing to search for additional victims believed to be trapped under the wreckage.
The body of Mayor Yasir Suazo Sandoval was discovered Friday morning, officials announced. The discovery comes after divers were unable to find multiple victims of the Francis Scott Key Bridge when it was struck by a large container ship and plunged into the ocean last week. This was carried out during the salvage work.
A rescue dive team found the 38-year-old construction worker and notified Maryland State Police Friday morning, the Key Bridge Joint Information Center said in a statement.
A police underwater recovery team was dispatched along with dive teams from other law enforcement agencies to recover Suazo Sandoval's body, the statement said.
“The State of Maryland is praying for Mayor Yasir Suazo Sandoval's family and all of his loved ones. They have our thoughts, hearts, and support,” said Maryland's Wes. Governor Moore said in a statement.
“On the night of the collapse, they were engaged in the difficult and dangerous work of maintaining our state's infrastructure for our collective benefit,” the governor said. “They come from communities that have long been ignored and undervalued. But their work has dignity and their contributions will never be forgotten.”

Maynor's brother, Carlos Suazo Sandoval, told CNN authorities he had informed his family of the discovery.
Suazo Sandoval is the third construction worker whose body has been recovered since the bridge collapsed in the early morning hours of March 26.
A ship collided with the bridge, causing much of it to collapse into the Patapsco River, killing six construction workers who were working on the bridge to repair potholes.
Suazo Sandoval immigrated to the United States from Santa Barbara, Honduras 18 years ago in search of a better life, CNN previously reported.
He was married and had two children, an 18-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter, his brother said.
One of eight children, Suazo Sandoval was described as a kind and fun person with a “vision,” according to his older brother Carlos Suazo of Baltimore.
