E-commerce giant Amazon announced today (May 9) that it will launch Amazon.ie next year and finally open a store in Ireland.
Users in Ireland can already shop online through Amazon stores in other countries, including the UK, Germany and the US. The new Amazon.ie website offers users in Ireland a localized shopping experience, promises faster delivery and eliminates inconveniences such as currency differences and customs duties.

Amazon has been present in Ireland since 2004, when it opened an office there. In 2006 Amazon Web Services opened a customer service center in Cork, and in 2007 Amazon Web Services opened its first infrastructure region outside the United States here. We currently employ approximately 6,500 people across Cork, Dublin and Drogheda.
Amazon says more than 1,000 Irish SMEs sell on the platform, which will generate more than €150 million in export sales in 2022.
