Amazon Business introduces new features in the UK to boost business sourcing from small and medium-sized businesses. This feature allows procurement professionals to make targeted purchases from sellers with fewer than 250 employees and sales of less than €50 million.
Small business sellers will get a boost with a new feature called “Small Business First.” They are the backbone of the UK economy, accounting for around three-fifths of private sector jobs and half of sales.
Grow your small business online
Small businesses selling on Amazon Business range from local suppliers to small family-run businesses. Amazon says the goal is to help businesses grow online, and the company says it frequently asks about this. The online marketplace giant believes there is plenty of room for growth, as UK business customers have increased purchases from small and medium-sized sellers by 60% in one year.
Purchasing from small and medium-sized businesses is a strategic priority for companies.
Amazon says this new feature will make small businesses more visible to multinational companies. Large orders drive growth for small and medium-sized sellers.
Addressing two challenges
According to Amazon Business UK director Fabricio Pedroza, the new SME capabilities will help customers address two challenges they currently face. First, we will be able to more effectively reach multinational companies that have been difficult to engage with in the past. “At the same time, we want to increase our purchases from small and medium-sized businesses to support strategic sourcing objectives such as diversifying our supplier base and mitigating risk, especially in the public sector where organizations face new legal objectives.” We know from our corporate and public customers what they are thinking.”
“Purchasing from small and medium-sized businesses supports our strategic sourcing goals.”
The new law encourages companies to increase spending on small businesses. It aims to help small and medium-sized businesses secure a greater share of his B2B spending of around £300bn a year in the UK. Amazon is increasingly focusing on corporate sales in the European market through initiatives such as logistics investments.
