SEATTLE — KING 5 is mourning the loss of longtime sports photojournalist Alan Reed, who passed away this week.
Reid was more than just a colleague to us. He was a friend and we were his family.
He spent more than 22 years with KING 5, starting as a general assignment photojournalist before moving to the sports department.
Mr. Reed was a “multimedia journalist” before his title became official. He spent countless hours in the field, often alone, filming games, conducting interviews, and gathering story ideas.
Reed covered every major Seattle sporting event and story for 20 years, contributing to countless awards at KING 5, but more importantly, how much he meant to all of us. did.

With his tireless work ethic and encyclopedic knowledge of sports at all levels, Reed set a standard that other sports teams can only hope to achieve.
He was the real deal, one of a kind, and a bit of an enigma to some in the KING 5, spending more time covering sports than in the office.
Most of all, Reid really, really loved his job. He loved being around the coaches and players, many of whom knew his name.
He was a visible presence at practices, press conferences and games. Reed looked just like Reed, with his silver hair, round face, and often big smile. everytime There.
