Administrator's Corner by John Double
During spring break, a partnership between Albert Lea Area Schools, the City of Albert Lea Parks and Recreation Department, and the Albert Lea Family Y through the school district's Project Explore provided swimming, skating, and climbing opportunities for students. This federal grant opportunity has provided students with many exciting activities throughout the year. We will continue our activities this spring and offer even more opportunities in the summer. Look for Terrific Travel Trailers in city parks again this year.
This summer, we will once again hold camps with a variety of sports and activities, as well as driver education, where we will continue to work with future drivers. The Rock Gym will remain open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays with new routes to enjoy. The Boathouse opens in June and brings the joy of being on the lake in the great summer weather. Look out for the Community Education summer booklet in May. Opportunities are offered for all age groups.
Community Education continues to offer exciting new opportunities and day adventure trips that revisit popular spots. There's still time in May for both a St. Paul Saints baseball game and a guided tour of the Twin Cities. In June, we go to the arboretum and explore the beautiful flowers and landscapes. In August, the State Fair will once again offer daytime adventures.
Our early learning program also offers summer programs to help our youngest learners reach their full potential and continue to grow. If you are interested in spring or upcoming summer opportunities, please contact the Early Learning Office. I will register. Please join us for his ECFE 50th anniversary celebration on April 11th.
Registration for spring classes is now open and registration for summer classes begins May 6th. Look forward to your summer books arriving in your mailbox in mid-May. As our community continues on its path to lifelong learning, we look forward to even more opportunities to gather, discover, and grow together.
