Franklin, Tennessee, April 2, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Acadia Healthcare Company, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACHC) today announced a partnership with Uber Health (NYSE:UBER). The companies are working together to improve access to lifesaving behavioral health and addiction treatment by providing transportation access so patients can begin treatment quickly and efficiently.
The initial focus is on Acadia's national Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) network. CTC provides medication-assisted treatment (MAT) combined with counseling and behavioral therapy to people suffering from opioid addiction. Acadia and Uber Health are launching the program in 19 facilities across multiple states and plan to expand the program to more facilities in the future to serve even more people.
“Access to stable and reliable transportation is a major barrier to successful addiction treatment,” said Dr. Nasser Khan, president of Acadia Healthcare CTC Group. “By collaborating with Uber Health, Acadia can remove this barrier and, in turn, reduce the wait times patients need to receive life-saving treatment. It removes a financial barrier that can be a major barrier to accessing institutions. The treatment was successful.”
Successful completion of the program requires patients to stay on track and attend each visit. However, many patients dealing with addiction may lack the resources to arrange and pay for transportation to and from appointments. Under this arrangement, patients who are waiting for approved, government-funded transportation, or who are in immediate crisis, can receive a ride from Uber Health to their CTC. Access to Uber Health helps patients reduce wait times for treatment. It can also reduce disruption to care for existing patients who are unable to attend treatment due to transportation barriers.
“Behavioral health services are critical for many patients struggling with addiction, and a lack of transportation should not be a barrier to accessing this support,” said Caitlin Donovan, Global Head of Uber Health. Stated. “Acadia Healthcare is partnering with Uber Health to quickly and easily connect patients to transportation, get the care they need when they need it, and ultimately improve patient outcomes at scale.” We can improve.”
Acadia has been using Uber Health to provide patient transportation at many of its CTC facilities for the past several years. By collaborating on a national level, both companies can easily provide consistent access to critical transportation services at scale, potentially leading to improved patient outcomes. The Uber Health platform allows Acadia to provide care earlier in a patient's recovery cycle.
