GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — City officials saw body camera footage. The incident occurred at the Greensboro city manager's home.
The video, shown to the City Council on Monday, stems from an incident that occurred at the home of Greensboro Mayor Taiwo Jaiyoba in late 2023. Councilwoman Sharon Hightower said there was “nothing in the video that pertains to city business.”
Multiple 911 calls were made between December 28th and 29th. On February 5, the city of Greensboro confirmed it had filed a court order seeking access to police body camera footage of the incident at Jayoba's home. The group requested footage from Dec. 28, Dec. 30 and Jan. 5, all of which involved Greensboro Mayor Taiwo Jaiyoba and his two adult daughters. A court filing filed Jan. 31 and signed by Mayor Nancy Vaughn and Greensboro City Attorney Check Watters says there is “no ongoing criminal investigation” related to these calls. ”.
“The City Council wishes to scrutinize the BWC to ensure that policies, practices, and North Carolina law are being followed in light of the incident and events described above involving Mr. Jaiyova. ”

Vaughan said he would withhold a statement until the entire council has seen the video, but Hightower stressed that this is a personal matter.
