Google announced Gemini, the company's most capable, versatile, and cutting-edge AI model to date.
Demis Hassabis, CEO and co-founder of Google DeepMind, introduced Gemini as a multimodal model that can seamlessly understand and combine different types of information, including text, code, audio, images, and video. did.
Gemini comes in three optimized versions: Ultra, Pro, and Nano. Ultra models boast state-of-the-art performance, surpassing human experts in language understanding and demonstrating unprecedented ability in tasks ranging from coding to multimodal benchmarks.
What sets Gemini apart is its native multimodality, eliminating the need to stitch together separate components for different modalities. This breakthrough approach was fine-tuned through extensive collaboration across the Google team, positioning Gemini as a flexible and efficient model that can run from the data center to mobile devices.
One of Gemini's standout features is its sophisticated multimodal inference, which allows it to extract insights from huge datasets with incredible accuracy. The model's prowess extends to understanding and producing high-quality code in common programming languages.
But as Google embarks on a new era of AI, responsibility and safety remain paramount. Gemini has undergone rigorous safety evaluations, including bias and toxicity assessments. We actively collaborate with external experts to address potential blind spots and ensure the ethical deployment of our models.
Gemini 1.0 is currently being rolled out across a variety of Google products, including the Bard chatbot, with planned integration into Search, Ads, Chrome, and Duet AI. However, the Bard upgrade will not be released in Europe until regulatory approval is received.
Developers and enterprise customers can access Gemini Pro through Gemini API in Google AI Studio or Google Cloud Vertex AI. Android developers can also build with Gemini Nano through AICore, a new system feature available in Android 14.
