“As members of parliament, we have a duty to monitor that Israelis receive good service from government ministries and public institutions. “It gives direction and focus,” he said, calling on the ministry to widely publicize the right of all citizens to lodge complaints with the ombudsman.
Nili Hayun Dickman, whose five-year term as ombudsman expires this week, said most of the lawsuits concern the choice of service providers, such as medication, hospitalization, medical accessories, payments and participation fees. . , emergency medicine, administrative treatment. She said the committee was working with all departments of the ministry to address complaints and their resolution.
Acceptability issues addressed in the past year include age limits for eligibility for IVF treatment, eligibility to continue rehabilitation treatment as part of hospitalization, child development, MRI appointment, and eligibility for neurosurgical back surgery. , qualifications for cerebral aneurysms, etc. Reimbursement for catheterization, in-hospital pediatric dental care, basket eligibility for restorative dental care for those 72 and older, and no discounts on dental care for that age group.
Of the 4,544 complaints against health funds investigated in 2023, approximately 658 (14.5%) were related to emergency medical care, the third most frequent complaint.
