Bengaluru-based grocery retailer, The Organic World, is set to launch on quick-commerce platforms this month to expand its presence in the market. The move is part of a strategy to enter new markets and expand its customer base. Currently, the brand operates across 17 stores, of which 13 are company-run and four are franchised. In addition to its brick-and-mortar stores, the brand maintains an online presence and app. It had previously partnered with quick-commerce player Dunzo.
“We are currently in talks with major players and hope to launch our services in the e-commerce space within the next 30 days,” said Gaurav Manchanda, founder and director of Nimida Group, Organic World's parent company. Business Line.
According to a report by market research firm IMARC Group, the Indian organic food market size is expected to surge to $1,582.2 million in 2023 and expand to $8,918.5 million by 2032, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 21.19 percent from 2024 to 2032.
Manchanda cited growing awareness and concern over the risks associated with chemical pesticides and fertilizers as a factor behind the growth of the organic food market, and highlighted the challenges that are preventing the widespread adoption of organic lifestyles – specifically price, availability and credibility – and highlighted his own efforts to address these issues.
“We have taken steps to ensure authenticity by removing 25 chemicals, including artificial colors, flavors, sulfites and sulfates, from our shelves,” he said. “Another challenge many face when transitioning to an organic lifestyle is accessibility. To address this, we are adapting the format and size of our stores to reach smaller neighborhoods. This is in line with our core principle of making organic products accessible and affordable for consumers. Our franchise stores, which are typically around 500 square feet in size, are part of our strategy to expand this accessibility.”
Last year, the company reported revenues of Rs 350 crore. The company plans to achieve a target of 100 stores or revenues of Rs 1,000 crore by the end of fiscal 2025. Additionally, Organic World plans to open 10 company-operated and 25 franchised stores as part of its continued expansion strategy.
