Target is looking to accelerate its online growth through partnerships that will bring new brands to its third-party online marketplace, Target+.
The discount giant has partnered with global commerce platform Shopify to offer a curated selection of popular Shopify merchants and their products at Target Plus. Additionally, Target is set to partner with Shopify in the coming months to become the first mass retailer to sell products from select merchants in its brick-and-mortar stores. The companies did not disclose financial terms of the transaction.
Specifically, Target Plus' expanded product lineup will include products such as running shoes, outdoor décor and patio accessories, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) learning toys, musical instruments, and baseball equipment. Brands featured in the new Shopify partnership include True Classic and Caden Lane.
“Target Plus allows consumers to browse a curated collection of products from vendors we trust, giving them confidence in shopping our assortment,” said Cara Sylvester, executive vice president and chief guest experience officer at Target. “Our partnership with Shopify gives us an expanded range of thoughtfully designed, affordable items to discover and enjoy as part of Target's distinctive brand mix that shoppers love.”
