Scotch & Soda's new e-commerce licensee is United Legwear & Apparel Europe BV, which will take over management of Scotch & Soda's European Internet operations, according to a news release issued by Blue Star Alliance.
The rights to the brand remain held by Blue Star Alliance, which is reviving Scotch & Soda in 2023. As part of its efforts to “strengthen key retail markets and drive digital growth quickly and strategically”, the American company has appointed United Legwear & Apparel Europe as the licensee for its e-commerce business. Blue Star Alliance said United Legwear & Apparel Europe is a reliable and strong financial partner for Europe.
Additionally, Scotch & Soda announced that its retail branches in Scandinavia have not been able to reopen, resulting in the closure of all physical stores, as no agreement could be reached between the administrator and the key parties to keep the stores open to sell clothing inventory.
Scotch & Soda will not disappear in all markets affected by the Nordic branch closures – for example, the trustees are considering relaunching it in Austria and Germany.
In a press release, Blue Star Alliance emphasized that after careful review of the structure of its branded store portfolio, it concluded that it had not been structured in the best way by the previous management team.
