Japan is known as a country with advanced technology, but also as a country that adheres to tradition. In this particular case, we're considering the former with a touch of AI dystopia. Japanese news site Livedoor News has announced that the new addition to its news broadcasting team is not a human, but another AI anime girl.
AI news streaming welcomes new members
The 24-hour news distribution service “Livedoor News 24” will start its first AI caster “Hayami” in September 2023 and introduce AI technologies such as ChatGPT. From February 6th, AI's older sister “Horie Ai” will appear as a commentator. In order to fairly share the burden of the AI girls, the program will be divided into three parts and will continue to broadcast 24 hours a day.
AI daughter of Livedoor News founder
The company has written a detailed backstory about Ai, calling her the “AI daughter” of Livedoor News executive advisor Takafumi Horie, who is also known as “Horiemon.” He founded Livedoor, which started as his internet service provider. Ai seems to have lived for over 10,000 years, and she loves history and the teachings of her father. Ai doesn't just provide news to users, it also responds to user comments and features a wide range of emotional expressions to make the segments more realistic.
Based on Ai's popularity, other features may also be developed, such as providing news and commentary in languages other than Japanese. The company also plans to expand its team by hiring producers and engineers to support the continued growth of Ai Horie and the broader Livedoor News24 platform.
