Enabling more sellers to join ONDC
Mathias then asks Gupta, “What steps will your group take to allow more sellers to join the ONDC platform?”
“To organize a series of evangelization programs across the core Hindi heartland, where we bring together these MSMEs, some retailers and ONDC team members, we will guide them on how to become e-commerce sellers. As we have explained in the first step about the importance of e-retailing, the follow-up will be through the positioning of ONDC and ultimately the contribution from our side. It's about building a solution. What do you need to do more than just provide a platform to sell online? Next, content narratives are added to handle digital marketing. So from an integration perspective, we're going to put our audience on a physical platform and start using a QR code, where the user can easily scan that QR code and get to their basket and make that transaction. ” said Bharat.
“Nearly 60% of e-commerce is done through tier 2 and 3 towns, so this gives us confidence. We think the user side is ready, but the sellers On the side, the 1 percent bucket, I think that efforts from content to commerce to building solutions and creating creative will help transform that,” Bharat added.
Mr Matthias then asked Mr Cossey: “Will this year be the year when e-commerce will explode in popularity, around 2024-25?A market of only 1% sellers and 5% buyers could be the beginning of e-commerce. What is the true democratization of e-commerce? And do you have media partnerships with very large companies? ”
