ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff visited Atlanta on Tuesday, shortly after his wife stopped by for a visit ahead of President Joe Biden's upcoming Morehouse College commencement speech.
Vice President Kamala Harris' husband Emhoff visited Sublime Donuts in Midtown. He sat down with owner Kamal Grant to discuss support for small business owners like himself.
“It's tough for small businesses because obviously the business you're opening is going to be competing with the traditional businesses that have been there, with all the capital and all the political influence.” Grant said.
Grant explained that this hardship is especially prevalent among the Black community, as many people struggle to obtain the resources to keep their businesses afloat.

“It's very difficult to access capital in our community. You know, we don't really have the kind of wealth that can be passed down through the generations, so we can build on that and… We need to be able to actually learn where that capital comes from,” Grant said.
Emhoff's next stop was The Gathering Spot in northwest Atlanta. The second man participated in a roundtable discussion with young voters on reproductive rights, including members of the Men 4 Choice group.
“I'm really nervous about the situation at hand, but it's really for my child's future. Why is the America that I grew up in, that America, so different?” Devon Lewis of Men 4 Choice He said:
