Jaden Lee had three hits, including a grand slam, and Marin Catholic boosted its MCAL playoff hopes with a 7-0 win over Tam on Tuesday.
Lee's timely hit in the top of the fourth inning gave MC (11-11, 9-6) a 4-0 lead. Lee Seung-yeop had 5 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Liam Smith pitched five innings and held the Red Tail Hawks to three hits (11-11, 8-7).
The win moved MC into a tie for fourth place with Archie Williams, but the season sweep kept the Wildcats ahead. Tam has a one-game lead over both teams, but was swept by Archie Williams, has already lost to MC and Archie Williams three times, and will be eliminated in a three-way tiebreaker. MC and Tam end their season on Thursday.
- Sean McGrath pitched a one-hit complete game in Tuesday's 7-1 win over Novato as San Marin clinched a playoff berth. McGrath struck out eight and allowed one earned run. Tyler Keene paced the Mustangs (16-7, 11-4) offensively with two hits and three RBIs. Anthony Shepler also had two hits. Novato (14-9, 10-5) fell to third place, but earned a playoff berth after winning all season against Archie Williams and Marin Catholic.
- Jack Gurley earned a shutout victory as Redwood suffered a 2-0 loss to Archie Williams on Tuesday. Gurley allowed four hits and had seven strikeouts for the Giants (19-3, 13-2). Theo Trono had two hits and Gavin Soper had an RBI. Leo Hendricks pitched six innings, allowing six hits and giving up an earned run to Archie Williams (11-10, 9-6), but dropped to fifth in the standings with one game left. Archie Williams will play against Redwood on Thursday.
- Marcos Tolliver struck out 11 batters in five innings Tuesday in San Rafael's 7-2 win over Terra Linda. Tolliver held TL (1-20, 1-14) to three hits and one earned run. Quinn Madden had two hits, two runs and one RBI for the Bulldogs (6-16, 4-11), who scored three runs in the second inning and three runs in the sixth.
college baseball
The University of Marin leaves for the start of the NorCal playoffs on Friday for a three-game series against Lassen. As the 16th seed, the Mariners (26-14) played ninth-seeded Lassen (25-13).
The Mariners were led by former Tam High School standout Matteo Bellissimo, who finished second with a team-high 14 home runs and 56 RBIs, with a batting average of .370. Former Novato High School standout Derek Bartram batted .321 with 11 home runs and 37 RBIs.
Game 1 is scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. Game 2 begins Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by Game 3 if necessary.
men's lacrosse
Cole Simon scored five goals as Terra Linda won 10-6 in the first round of the Division 2 playoffs against San Marin of the North Coast Section on Tuesday. Cole Green scored twice for the No. 9 Trojans (8-6), who will face No. 1 Justin Siena (15-4) on the road Thursday at 7 p.m.
women's lacrosse
Top-seeded San Marin got off to a good start in its quest for the title with a 20-0 win over No. 16 Bay on Tuesday. The Mustangs (14-5) are scheduled to play No. 8 University in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
- Branson, the No. 7 seed in D-II, advanced to the quarterfinals with a 17-4 win over No. 10 Rick Wilmerding on Tuesday. The Bulls (13-4) will play the winner of the late game between No. 2 Campolindo and No. 15 Casa Grande on Thursday.
- Marin Catholic defeated No. 14 Rancho Cotate 19-0 in the first round of the DI playoffs. The Wildcats (15-4) will host either No. 6 Monte Vista or No. 11 Berkeley on Thursday.

Toby Saszek of San Domenico, the second seed in the BCL West playoffs, lost to third seed Karam Dhawan (University of San Domenico) 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals.
preparation softball
San Marin defeated Terra Linda 10-0 in a late game Monday night. As a result, the Mustangs (11-9, 9-4) moved into a tie for third place with Archie Williams and one game behind second-place Redwood. San Marin concludes the regular season with a game against Redwood in Larkspur on Wednesday.
Preparing for badminton
San Domenico clinched the regular season league title with a 7-2 victory over University. The Bay Area Conference singles and doubles tournaments begin Thursday.
