ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WIFR) – Rock County Public Health (RCPH) is warning the community of potential measles exposure.
The Dane County individual spent time in Rock County while infected. RCPH, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Madison County Public Health, and SSM Health are working to identify and notify people who may have been exposed to the measles virus.
You may have been exposed to measles if you have visited the following locations:
- quick trip – 603 W Madison Ave, Milton, WI – Sunday, April 21st from 2:45 to 5 p.m.
- Head of SSM Health Medical Group – 3200 E Racine St, Janesville, WI – Monday, April 22nd from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
- SSM Health Mary's Hospital – 3200 E Racine St, Janesville, WI – Tuesday, April 23rd from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Anyone in these locations on these dates and times will be asked to confirm their vaccination status. Anyone who has not been vaccinated and has been in these locations is asked to stay home and contact RCPH or their local health department for guidance.
SSM Health is working to contact patients who may have been exposed to measles on campus during this period via MyChart or by phone.
The measles virus is highly contagious through coughing and sneezing. According to the CDC, “An infected person can spread measles to others between 4 days before and 4 days after the rash appears.”
