The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued water quality warnings for several local beaches.
Officials said tests found bacteria levels on many beaches were above safe standards.
Warnings have been issued for the following areas.
- Santa Monica Canyon Creek at Will Rogers State Beach. The area to avoid is near Tower 18, which stretches 100 yards up and down the shore from the stream.
- Santa Monica Pier, 100 yards up and down the shore near the pier.
- Pico Kenter storm drain on Santa Monica Beach near Tower 20. 100 yards up and down the shore from the storm drain.
- Redondo Beach Pier, 100 yards up and down the shore near the pier.
- Mother's Beach in Marina del Rey, the entire swimming area.
- San Pedro's Inner Cabrillo Beach, the entire swimming area.
- Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu, 100 meters above and below the shore near the lagoon.
Public health authorities advise beachgoers not to swim, surf or play in seawater.
