Mr. Zarate has held leadership roles including Vice President for Academic Affairs in the CSUF School of Educational Leadership and Master of Science Coordinator for the Educational Administration and Pre-Administrative Services Credential Program. Throughout her career, she has led strategic planning and implementation, program redesign, partnership development, external funding efforts, and faculty recruitment efforts at multiple institutions.
Her scholarship addresses the trajectories of immigrant students in U.S. schools, including school-family connections and the experiences of multilingual learners. She co-edited a book on educational interventions for immigrant students and has written and developed professional learning opportunities to improve the education of first-generation college students.
Her current role is UtepShe leads the institute's strategic planning, develops a national network of higher education scholars for future collaborations and partnerships, and contributes to research to increase participation in STEM careers.
