Apart from chasing history, O'Sullivan recently signed a three-year ambassadorship deal with Saudi Arabia, committing him to play in every World Snooker Tour event in the country as world number one.
As part of this, he says he is also committed to establishing academies in the Middle East and developing an elite environment to broaden the sport's appeal and success.
“If you look at what China has done with their young players, you can copy and paste that, and Saudi Arabia has developed academies where young players can go and play, they have organized tournaments and events. “You can,” he added.
“I want to be a part of that too so they get the right type of coaching. I want to spend some time with some of the younger players and try to teach them good basics and share things with them. I love watching people grow.”
“I used to be fascinated by the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy and if I was a young kid I would love to go there and practice with the Grand Slam champions. It will inspire you. .”
“I wanted to be around Steve Davis when I was a kid because I thought if I could learn something from him it would help me grow as a player.
“I’m excited that we are creating an environment where young kids can develop as players, and it motivates them to become great snooker players.
“It's like Kenya and runners. If you want to be the best runner in the world, you have to go and live in their backyard, because they know how to train and take you to another level. Because I know how to pull up. That's what I want to try and do. ”
