ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Introducing the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award for Winter Sports Coaching.

The girls coach led the Cadets to their first sectional final appearance since 2016 and first championship since 2011.
It was a championship earned by surviving one of the most ridiculous section brackets in a long time. Hilton had to win three games against teams capable of winning the title.
The coach then led the Midshipmen to the state final four, where he produced the highlight of the basketball season: the three buzzer-beating games that clinched a spot in the state finals.
The storybook season fell one win short, but the state runner-up was named the girls coach of the winter. Dave HeissIt's from Hilton.

You've probably heard a little bit about the winter men's coach as well.
Not only did he train the first male swimmers to compete in all 11 state meets, he also achieved his own clean sweep.
Pittsford Swimming not only won the Sectional Award for the 22nd consecutive season, but also won the Sectional Award, becoming the first team to win in every event.
His 200 and 400 yard relay teams set new Section 5 records. The Panthers finished runner-up in each state and did well enough to fill the pool by breaking pool records this season…
