College of Charleston students will open two new schools on campus.
On April 12, the university's Board of Trustees unanimously approved the creation of the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics and the School of Natural and Environmental Sciences.
“These new schools will allow the university to better meet the needs of the Charleston community and support the region's growing high-tech, manufacturing and engineering industries,” the College of Charleston said in a statement.
College of Charleston President Andrew Hsu said the establishment of both schools will enhance the student experience and create further opportunities for partnership.

Suzanne Austin, vice president for academic affairs and provost, announced that the university will conduct a national search for a chair for the School of Engineering, Computing, and Mathematics. Seth Pritchard, interim dean of the College of Science, Mathematics and Engineering, will serve as interim dean of the two new schools until a national search is completed.
Professor Austin said the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics is the university's strategic investment in “select discipline-related programs” that will attract new students and strengthen enrollment in the university's traditional liberal arts foundation. Ta.
